AfroFusion Intellectual Property

Effective Date: 08/24/2018

At AfroFusion.net, we are committed to honoring and protecting the creativity, culture, and intellectual property (IP) rights of the artists, designers, vendors, and creators who make up our vibrant marketplace. This policy explains how we handle intellectual property matters and what we expect from all members of the AfroFusion community.

What is Intellectual Property?

Intellectual Property refers to creations of the mind — including artwork, designs, logos, photographs, music, literary works, slogans, trademarks, and more — that are protected by copyright, trademark, patent, or similar rights under the law.

Our Commitment to Creators

AfroFusion was founded to elevate Afrocentric voices and celebrate cultural creativity across the African diaspora. We recognize that the originality and authenticity of each creator’s work is the heart of our marketplace. We are dedicated to:

✅ Providing a platform that respects the ownership and integrity of original work.
✅ Responding promptly to credible reports of intellectual property infringement.
✅ Encouraging creators to protect their work by registering their copyrights, trademarks, or designs where possible.

Vendor Responsibilities

By listing products on AfroFusion.net, vendors agree that:

  • They own or have the legal right to sell the products, artwork, designs, or materials they upload.
  • Their products and listings do not infringe on the intellectual property rights of others.
  • They take full responsibility for any IP disputes related to their listings.

We do not allow:

  • Unauthorized use of copyrighted images, text, or music.
  • Sale of counterfeit goods, replicas, or knockoffs.
  • Use of names, likenesses, logos, or brands without permission.

Reporting IP Infringement

If you believe your intellectual property has been used or sold on AfroFusion.net without your permission, please contact us at: 📧 ip@afrofusion.net
Include:

  • Your name and contact details.
  • A description of the work you believe is being infringed.
  • Links to the listing(s) or material in question.
  • Proof of your ownership or rights.

We will review reports promptly and take appropriate action, which may include removing content, suspending accounts, or assisting rights holders.

Repeat Infringers

AfroFusion has a zero-tolerance policy for repeat infringement. Vendors or users who repeatedly violate intellectual property laws may have their accounts permanently suspended.

Artistic Inspiration vs. Infringement

AfroFusion celebrates cultural inspiration, remix, and reinterpretation – but we draw a firm line at infringement.

While we understand that many Afrocentric designs draw on shared cultural symbols, heritage patterns, or public domain materials, vendors are expected to:

  • Ensure they have original elements or transformative contributions in their work.
  • Avoid directly copying or lightly modifying another creator’s original, copyrighted, or trademarked material.

Our Role as a Marketplace

AfroFusion is a platform that connects independent creators with buyers. We do not manufacture, own, or directly sell the products listed on our site. However, we take intellectual property concerns seriously and reserve the right to:

  • Remove infringing listings without prior notice.
  • Suspend or terminate vendor accounts in violation.
  • Cooperate with rights holders and authorities if required.
