Vendor Intellectual Property Guidelines
We are excited to have you join a marketplace that celebrates Afrocentric creativity and connects artists, designers, and makers from across the African diaspora with a global audience.
To protect you, our customers, and the AfroFusion community, here are important Intellectual Property (IP) guidelines you must follow when listing products on our platform.
Only List Products You Have the Rights To Sell
✅ Upload only original work you created yourself (artwork, designs, photos, music, etc.)
✅ If you collaborate with others, make sure you have written permission to sell or reproduce the work.
✅ If you use third-party elements (like stock images, fonts, or patterns), ensure you have the proper license for commercial use.
❌ Do NOT upload:
- Copied or slightly modified designs from another artist or brand.
- Images, logos, names, or slogans from celebrities, public figures, or companies without permission.
- Fan art or tribute work unless you have the legal right to commercialize it.
Respect Cultural Symbols Thoughtfully
AfroFusion honors the power of cultural symbols, patterns, and heritage designs. While many African motifs and styles are part of a shared cultural legacy, blatantly copying another creator’s unique expression or design is not allowed.
✅ Use cultural inspiration with originality, respect, and authenticity.
❌ Do not copy someone else’s unique interpretation, colorway, or artistic expression.
Protect Your Own Work
We encourage you to protect your creations by:
- Signing or watermarking your original artwork (if appropriate).
- Considering copyright, trademark, or design registration in your country.
- Keeping records of your creative process to show originality.
AfroFusion supports creators in defending their rights and will act on credible IP infringement reports.
What Happens If There’s an IP Issue?
If AfroFusion receives an intellectual property complaint against one of your listings, we may:
- Temporarily remove the product from the site.
- Contact you for more information or proof of ownership.
- Suspend or close your account if there are repeated or serious violations.
We are here to help resolve misunderstandings fairly and quickly.
